WHITE ORANGE YOUTH

General Information about the Partner Organization
White Orange Youth is a non –Governmental organization located in Kilimanjaro, Moshi Municipality, Makongoro Avenue. It is about 1km from center of town. It was founded in 1997 and registered in 1998 by a group of Young professionals who felt that through collective action they would be better able to make progress on social, economic and political issues which Tanzania Youths face

The Organization started with the following:

VISION: To see Youths out of misery and poverty.

The MISSION of the organization is to operate comprehensive and dynamic youth enhancement programs, to advocate and lobby, and to network with other stakeholders to help to improve the quality of life for the youth of Tanzania.

TARGET GROUP
Their programs focus on youth since they are Youths and know the situations that youth face best. They endeavor in their activities to reach females and males, who live in both rural and urban areas. This includes both those who are working and unemployed, as well as in school and out-of-school

ACTIVITIES
There are four major program areas that they focus on:
1. Training and Organizational Development
Much of their work centers on peer-education and intervention. They work directly with people to educate them on sexual health, STD’s and HIV/AIDS prevention. Initiatives include:
 AIDS prevention in workplace where they teach proper condom usage and life skills through peer training.
 HIV/AIDS education and Anti-AIDS youth clubs in primary schools as well as clubs for out-of-school youth that include drama and sporting events combined with sexual health education
 Outreach in high transmission areas such as bars, guesthouses, highways and nightclubs.
2. Advocacy and Awareness Creation to community leaders and government officials about the youth’s concerns
3. Networking with other stakeholders in the community and abroad to facilitate the sharing of information and experience.
4. Research and Development where by they document their experiences to better understanding of how HIV/AIDS affect our community as well as relationship to poverty, in order to improve and further develop their prevention strategies.

DUTIES
You are expected to work closely with your counterpart in the following areas:
 Outreach for Youth on Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Education.
 Staff Capacity building on Fund raising, lobby and advocacy and Computer skills,
 Counseling to people living with HIV/AIDS.
 Website updating.
 Fundraising

REQUIREMENTS
Any relevant material as per above mentioned duties.

Work attire
Bring clothing that presents you in a professional fashion such as a few polo shirts and some loose, long, cotton skirts or trousers. Bring your most comfortable pair of shoes/sandals with you.
